Education is a deeply personal experience. What inspires one person to explore their world may be very different to another's inspiration. Our responsibility at St David’s Academy School is to recognise and engage those differences, and to create an environment that values uniqueness alongside learning what it means to be part of a truly global community.
We are an international, coeducational boarding and day school for 3-18 year olds. And every day, we are doing something extraordinary.
We recognise the competing demands of education – academic skills, university entry, preparation for life. To be able to meet these whilst nurturing each individual student, we have created a learning culture that encourages confidence and intellectual curiosity.
Through leading global academic programmes, alongside the St David's Academy diploma programme and a learning network that reaches across the globe, we foster the ability to look outward and reflect inward through creativity, critical thinking and appreciative inquiry.
Academic learning on its own, important though it is, is not enough. To create extraordinary global citizens, to develop humane, thoughtful and outward-looking young people who can make an impact in the world as well as access its leading universities, we have to do something more.
This is where our unique St David’s Academy diploma programme, with its emphasis on a deep understanding of human ecology and individual personal development alongside traditional academic rigour, contributes to and then draws together all the strands and experiences of our unique curriculum.
St David’s Academy serves an international blend of students, from the historic South Wales valleys to the far side of the world. To support students from such diverse cultures, most of whom will board, the most important thing we can do is to create a ‘home’, a safe place from which to experience, grow and have fun.
And if this is the right place for a student to learn, whether boarding or day, we will do all we can through our Access Fund to support them making their home here.
Just as much as we encourage our students to recognise their relationships with others and the world they live in, so St David’s Academy too operates within an open and inclusive community.
From the partners mutual that has supported the school from its launch to the network of schools, teachers and businesses around the world that help create and maintain the unique education and opportunities we provide, we practise what we preach: we are all connected.
Building a brand new school provides us with a rare opportunity to create an environment that reflects the needs of our extraordinary education. With open and flexible learning spaces alongside the latest communications infrastructure, and brand new facilities that cater for international standard sports and the arts as well as more traditional learning, this is a landmark project for Wales.
The school is part of a larger proposed development focusing on learning and sustainable development, close to the M4 between Cardiff and Swansea.explore more
